There are multiple situations that come to mind when thinking about how amazing of a nurse Jennie is. The scenario that sticks out most for me was during a BRRT (Bryan Rapid Response Team) call at change of shift. I was the night charge nurse and she was coming on that morning when a BRRT was called. She was the first person to jump up and lend a hand. She knew nothing about the patient or why the BRRT was called but she was there.
Jennie is one of the most knowledgeable nurses on our unit. I felt reassured having her there. She is always willing to answer questions or help search for the answers. She is a leader on our floor and one of the primary charge nurses. I know it's going to be a good day when she is charge. Not only is Jennie a good resource to her coworkers, but also to the community. When COVID became prevalent at Bryan, she was chosen to do a COVID-related interview to share facts with the community.
Jennie is a patient advocate and a selfless nurse. She goes above and beyond every shift. There are many instances where she has stayed late to help her coworkers. She has a way of speaking with the patients that is comforting and calms even the most anxious of patients. She is so kind and makes each patient feel that they are a priority. Bryan would not be the same with her. She takes part in many unit and hospital committees. She is an educator at our unit's yearly competencies and before becoming a main charge nurse, she would orient new nurses and students. She has helped many of her coworkers grow in their careers, myself included. Overall, she is one of the kindest, caring, and knowledgeable nurses I have had the pleasure of working with. My experience as a nurse wouldn't be the same without her. She represents Bryan and the core values with pride.
