Amanda
Culberson
,
RN
Labor and Delivery
Monument Health Rapid City Hospital
I believe Amanda even stayed after her shift was complete to ensure that we were on the mend and that everything pertaining to our case was documented.
Amanda was kind, compassionate, attentive, supportive, and most of all, encouraging. Not only was she consistently making sure I was comfortable and well cared for, but I feel she went the extra mile to make sure my body was handling everything well. A previous time, I had terrible problems but this time around everything went well which I fully credit Amanda and her care as she made treatment a priority.
There are parts of this that are raw, not so glamorous, and dare I say embarrassing. Amanda made sure to make me feel comfortable and human throughout the whole process. She made sure I was as comfortable as possible. She literally even held my hand through everything. I was terrified of going through this as they treated me, I couldn't stop shaking. She was right there holding my hand to help keep me calm and steady. She was a wonderful encourager when I was doubting my body's abilities, cheering me on through the entire process.
I feel she did an exceptional job, doing all things with such gentle and caring actions. If I could refer a specific nurse to a friend about to go through this, I would 100% recommend Amanda.
We are forever grateful to my team of nurses and doctors, but especially to Amanda.

My husband and I wish to nominate Amanda Culberson for this award for the excellent care she provided to us while at Monument. Amanda's shift covered everything from the beginning through recovery from the procedure. Amanda was thorough in explaining everything to us throughout the entire process. She worked diligently towards letting us have the normal process we were hoping for. When it was determined that that wasn't going to happen, she was immediately aware that my husband and I were worried and did all she could to quiet our worries and answer our questions. The procedure went well, and we were doing great.
However, shortly afterward I was suddenly in horrible pain, unable to do much or even be aware of what was going on. Amanda went above and beyond to get me the help I needed. My husband was extremely happy that she was there fighting for us and can't express his gratitude enough. I believe Amanda even stayed after her shift was complete to ensure that we were on the mend and that everything pertaining to our case was documented. She undoubtedly made us feel cared for and looked after. Her dedication and commitment to myself and my husband did not go unnoticed and we are forever grateful that she happened to be our nurse. Thank you, Amanda, for all that you did for us!
