Sandy always takes the time and patience to make me fully understand, there are no short cuts for this nurse. She is kind, compassionate, and empathetic, knowledgeable every single time I come in.
Sandy makes the 5 hours go faster for me. She jokes with her patients and puts you at ease. While all the nurses are very good and nice, I had Sandy for my last two treatments and she was wonderful. She is a DAISY Nurse for her caring service and nature.

I am a cancer patient. Sandy Gentile was my primary oncology nurse. We were strangers when we met. This is my story: I had a cancerous colon tumor removed along with my ascending and transverse colon, appendix, cecum, and ileum, and 22 lymph nodes of which 7 were cancerous; defining me as a stage 3C cancer patient. I had a port implanted in my left chest wall. I began chemo. I received 12 infusions, Sandy administered 9 with great care and expertise. Recently, I "rang the bell". I received excellent care. Sandy is, without a doubt, an extraordinary oncology nurse. In my opinion, all cancer patients are blessed to have her care.

I am an oncology patient who is seen in the infusion center every three weeks for the past 2 years. Sandy always goes above and beyond every single time I am seated in her section. Even though she knows me well, she still takes the time to ask me all that is going on in my life and proceeds to make me feel amazing when I leave her care. This is a hard task, for I am also a nurse, and we tend to judge more harshly. From greeting me at the door with an amazingly friendly and caring smile to being placed in my chair. She always starts as if I am a new patient, thoroughly going over every detail and question to make me understand. I forget the same questions that I am asked over the time spent in the infusion center, but she always takes the time and patience to make me fully understand, there are no short cuts for this nurse. She is kind, compassionate, and empathetic, knowledgeable every single time I come in. She always addresses my questions and concerns during my visit, with a phone call or visit from the department or personnel that I requested. I cannot say enough about Sandy. I do not want to be a nurse sitting in the chair, I am a patient first and cannot think like a nurse when I am having my infusion. I look forward to having her as a nurse and when I do not, she will always come over and say hello and ask how I am doing. Again, nursing is a draining profession especially in the oncology field, but Sandy always gives her extraordinary clinical expertise and compassion. I'm glad to know her and can rest assured that I am always number one when I am in her section.
