Lonni is a hero behind the scenes. She has the softest, most comforting voice, she cares, you can just feel it.
I had been at the hospital for several days and it wasn't going well. I was getting frustrated because I was taking a medication which caused me to start seeing things that were not there, hearing things, etc. This had never happened to me before so you can imagine how scared I was. When we realized it was the medication I stopped the medication and these things went away. I had Lonni on my shift for nights and she could tell I was upset and asked me if I was ok? I let it all out. I had been in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. She told me not to be embarrassed about a reaction to meds that was beyond my control. She spoke calmly and just made me feel safe, this is what I needed and wanted. She was true all the time.
I was hungry in the middle of the night because my tray had gotten thrown out. She went and got me a snack. She just truly cares and you can feel it. You guys are lucky to have her because good nurses are few and far in between. I'm talking about those who really take the time to connect with you as Lonni did. She made my heart feel good. She made me less scared. She told me what I needed to do to get my goals accomplished here. She also had all my meds right and didn't make me feel stupid for asking questions. She is a hero behind the scenes. She has the softest, most comforting voice, she cares, you can just feel it. She told me things she would follow through with and she in fact followed through. She doesn't want the spotlight on her but she needs it cause she's everything a nurse should be.
