What I most appreciate about Dr. Henderson is her bright and infectious smile, her positive can-do attitude, and her unflappability in the middle of often difficult situations.
Dr. Henderson is an amazing professional. She joined the Vidant nursing team as the Director for Nursing Research and since her first day, has done nothing but advance our performance and capacity.
Since her arrival in Greenville, she has transformed the research infrastructure to support nursing research, medical staff research, clinical trials, PI initiated studies and so much more.
Her vision as being a research hub for VH has become a reality via her work to integrate community hospital research professionals into an integrated Center for Research and Grants.
She established the Center for Research and Grants, when she integrated the Grants infrastructure and her Research team. She developed a strong team internal to her department and outside it.
Her team assists with proposal development, IRB construction, annotated reviews of the literature, and a host of other service-related functions to support the research process. She is a talented writer and editor and supports the Vidant team with manuscript preparation, submission, and tools for public presentations of the Vidant work.
She is highly respected by finance, office of general counsel, risk management, and compliance for her solid ethical principles and how she applies them to the work of her team. She has created a structure from nothing, that has built strong protections for the health system into the workflow for clinical research and grants.
Dr. Henderson generously shares herself to develop others, has launched 5 Team members to medical school, and serves as a mentor to a host of young professionals, nurses, and non-nurses.
She has cultivated relationships with the ECU Main Campus and launched internships for students that have transformed their professional development trajectory.
She designed and built a website and tools to support researchers in their work, and is always finding ways to provide solutions to complex problems.
What I most appreciate about Dr. Henderson is her bright and infectious smile, her positive can-do attitude, and her unflappability in the middle of often difficult situations.
Her energy is unmatched, her optimism contagious and her contributions to local, state, national, and international nursing activities are to be admired.
In addition, this past year, she stepped up and Chaired the PPE Task Force for the Health System. This entailed coordinating a large interprofessional team to assure the use of science to support our clinical teams at the point of care. Her work was filled with innovation, and she became affectionately known for running the most efficient meetings ever "silence is consensus" will always be attributed to her with great love and respect.
I am so grateful she said "Yes" when we asked her to join the Vidant nursing team. Since her arrival, she has been a role model for what it means to serve with humility and grace.
She is a true DAISY Nurse Leader.
