Jeannie uses her deep wisdom – honed over 36 years of practice – to develop relationships that can serve to heal our patients and our communities.
Jeannie has supported many nurses in every stage of her career. As a staff nurse, Jeannie served as a preceptor to onboard new nurses and worked as nursing faculty at various Universities teaching student nurses in both clinical and classroom environments. She has served as a clinical educator in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, supporting new and experienced nurses and bringing evidence-based practice to the bedside. Jeannie has served as a leader at the department, ministry, regional, and system level. She has supported nurses in her leadership roles, including the redesign of nursing orientation, development of a navigator mentorship program, advocating and implementing a program for staff to practice at the top of their licensure, development of an onboarding program for APRNs with ongoing support, development of the System Professional Nurse Practice Model, collaboration on the System Graduate Nurse Residency program and streamlining nurse practice across the system.
At every stage of Jeannie's nursing career, she has demonstrated competence, at the bedside as a staff RN, as an educator, a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, and as an accomplished nurse executive. Her competence shines through the results and outcomes she has achieved for her patients, her students, and our health care ministry. Jeannie strives to create transparency, there is never a hidden agenda, and information needed for decision-making is shared freely. Because of her deep integrity, Jeannie holds herself accountable before she ever asks others to step up to the plate. To Jeannie, "sacred trust" is so much more than words in our professional practice model. She truly understands that delivering on our promise of exceptional health care requires personal and professional integrity every step of the way, every day of the year. Jeannie uses her deep wisdom - honed over 36 years of practice - to develop relationships that can serve to heal our patients and our communities. She creates collaborative spaces in which every member of our nursing and interprofessional teams - whether they are comprised of staff RNs at the bedside, physicians, therapists, managers, or senior executives - can participate fully in the health ministry of SSM Health. Through the quality of the relationships, she builds and nurtures, Jeannie practices as an influencer, a boundary spanner, and a servant leader. Her life's work has been to create the possibility for each member of our system to do their best work in service to the Mission of SSM Health.
