Pamela's interactions with her patients are compassionate and respectful, attributes that I know all patients of a health care system want.
We have a pretty tough job of trying to help our patients manage their diabetes. These patients have many other social barriers that impact their diabetes self-management, which trickles down to more ER visits and an increased burden on our health system. AS employees, we know this is the case. I think one gap in patient care is spending a little extra time, even if it is just 5 mins, to listen to our patients and really hear what they feel are their barriers instead of just saying your blood sugars are too high. Pamela Vaughn takes this extra time with her patients and it makes a world of a difference for patients to know that their healthcare team cares and listens to their concerns. I have had several mutual patients of ours tell me this. Her interactions with her patients are compassionate and respectful, attributes that I know all patients of a health care system want. I know that Ms. Vaughn carries these attributes, but the fact that I have had several of our mutual patients tell me this is what makes her a DAISY Nurse.
