Our nursing profession has many nurses who exemplify the characteristics of a caring professional nurse who goes above and beyond the call of duty to advance the profession, more importantly, to provide exemplary care for their patients for positive outcomes. A nurse who exhibits such is Danique. She is gentle yet her nursing skills are remarkable. Most recently, Danique's assessment skills led her to identify a PICC line on one of her patients. This line was on a newly admitted patient from a nursing home. The line was 10 days overdue for dressing and was not capped. Danique who was precepting at the time corrected the situation by doing the dressing change, capping the line, and holding her peers accountable.
Danique's professional demeanor exemplifies confidence and positivity. She can always be found at her patients' bedside teaching or interacting with them and available to family members. Her infectious smile and empathetic demeanor make her patients feel valued. No matter how hectic her assignments, she spends valuable time tending to her patients' needs. As I round on the patients as the PCC, many patients echo praises for Danique. Her CHF patients benefit immensely from her passion for educating them about compliance with the plan of care. Her colleagues are no exception. Danique treats everyone with respect and is always available to extend a helping hand. Klau 6 is privileged to have such an excellent team member.
