Julie took time from her very busy day to sit with this woman, talk to her, and to paint this woman's fingernails.
Julie goes beyond her duties as a nurse for her patients. She has a big heart and her patients reap the benefits of her heart and kind spirit. Recently there was an indigent patient admitted with no family or friends. A lifelong illness kept her socially isolated from others and from most of reality. Julie took time from her very busy day to sit with this woman, talk to her, and to paint this woman's fingernails. I would guess this was the first time this had happened in this woman's life. Out of the patient's troubled mind came a calmness, a genuine smile, and real appreciation for this simple yet personal act of kindness and validation of worth. If that were not enough, Julie found out the woman's shoe size and clothing size and purchased some items for her so that she could feel special. These acts healed this woman more than our traditional medicines could; healed her on a personal and emotional level. Julie did all this while going through a tremendous loss in her personal life. In a time where most people would be internally focused on grief, Julie reached out to a forgotten soul. We are so lucky to have nurses like Julie Denton!
