I am writing this nomination after reading an amazing story. I will say that as I called to thank this nurse for her service, I was choking back tears, only to let them run as soon as I hung up the phone. Amy is one of the most compassionate and caring nurses I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She went above and beyond for a patient who was discharged from the ER. She found him sitting on the curb trying to figure out where he would be going from there. Amy was determined to find a way to help this man. Amy got a meal for him from the Café on the Go, rented him a room at the nearby hotel, and made sure he got there. Before getting him a room Amy and another nurse called all the shelters on the list that the patient had been given, but there were no open beds. So she made sure he would have a bed to sleep in, a warm shower, and a meal for dinner and breakfast the next morning. Amy, I know this was an action from your heart that you did not expect to be shared, but I just wanted you to know that as small as an act you may think this was, it made a HUGE difference in this man's life.
