The best moment was when Becky plopped him on her back for a piggyback ride. His face lit up!
Today I brought my 3-year-old son in for tube placement and adenoid removal. He is very congested, so the nurse in me is a bit more nervous than usual. The anesthesiologist was wonderful and gave me great comfort, but I was still very uneasy as I held my sweet boy on my lap. He looked at me and said, "Mommy, I'm scared." My heart broke! Just then, Becky came in with her bright smile and warm positive attitude, and body language. She didn't just talk to me about my son. Instead, she spoke to him, on his level. She gave high fives, pounded his fist, joked with him, and immediately put him at ease.
The best moment was when she plopped him on her back for a piggyback ride. His face lit up!
That moment, when nurses take my baby to surgery is usually the most nerve-racking. But today, Becky melted away my anxiety and helped me confidently walk to the waiting room as she and the CRNA took my son to pick out a sucker. They bounced down the hall together and the last thing I heard as I left my boy in her care was his little laugh.
Thank you to Becky and the entire team for all that you do every day!
