Samantha was described as a young nurse both in age and experience, with a big heart. She makes a difference to her patients by spending time talking with them and listening to what they are saying. Samantha cared for a COVID patient who could not have visitors. She not only attended to the patient's physical needs but also to the emotional needs of the patient. Samantha also provided emotional support to the family. The patient asked for Samantha as her nurse, even when she was off from work. Eventually, the patient passed away, but Samantha made a difference in this patient's final days.
Samantha also provided very kind and individualized care to two special needs sisters who were on one of our inpatient units. She brought them baby dolls and snacks, escorted them on walks, and formed a special bond with them. Upon discharge, Samantha was provided with their new address and will ask permission to visit them in the future.
Other examples of Samantha's special caring heart were her care of a dementia patient and a patient with who she bonded with who was placed on hospice care. Samantha cares for the very sick with skill and heart. She touches their lives, and they remain in her heart.
