Joury's attention to detail did not go unnoticed; his passion for children especially my daughter left a huge impression on not only me but my mother as well.
It was Thursday around 10 or 11 PM. My 6-year-old daughter was fresh out of surgery for perforated appendix removal. It's been the scariest thing to happen to us by far. As a mother, your first instinct is to protect your child. Knowing at that time that there was nothing I can do to take her pain away broke me I felt helpless. The minute she started to open her eyes our nurse Joury made S feel safe and comfortable He informed me what he was going to do step-by-step. His patience with me was remarkable and did an amazing job dealing with me being such an emotional wreck. He went over the plan of care and answered my million questions with ease.
I can tell he knew what he was doing. He empathized and reassured me she was in good hands more than once. He didn't sugarcoat anything which I appreciate. He taught me what signs to look for during her recovery and educated me on what to do and how to help S get in and out of bed. What stood out the most was how gentle he was with S; he is so sweet and caring, the way he spoke to her was what made me slowly start to calm down. Joury went the extra mile to make sure not only S's pain was managed but he also took his time not once did I feel like he rushed to leave the room. He made sure I was comfortable as well supplied us with the essentials (toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, a few towels, socks, and snacks).
We saw him a few times during our time here in the hallways when we were doing our walks and always greeted S even though he was not assigned as our nurse for the night he made it known every time that if we ever needed anything to just ask. Joury's attention to detail did not go unnoticed; his passion for children especially my daughter left a huge impression on not only me but my mother as well. He stood out and was not hesitant to go above and beyond the normal nurse duties. We thank him for making our first night less of a nightmare. S will never forget how you made her feel.
