Susan is an AMAZING nurse!! Back in January, my son D was hospitalized for his epilepsy, it was a scary time for all of us and one of our first nurses was Susan. Her tone is very calming and she had a huge part in keeping me calm as a parent of a sick child. Being in the hospital isn't fun and Susan made us all comfortable whether it was talking to us, getting snacks and blankets, and checking in with us to make sure we were always ok.
My son D was in Cooper for the Superbowl and his team is the 49ers. Susan knew how important the game was to him. She went out of her way to make a 49ers foam finger and gave him a football so he could enjoy cheering for his team. He was so happy that she went out of her way for him he still talks about it, months later.
Today we are back at CUH for his EEG testing. Yesterday when we arrived, to our surprise Susan was his nurse. A 17-year-old hospitalized the last week of summer break is no fun. He didn't want to come but his mood changed once he knew he was in the best hands with Susan as his nurse. Again, she went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable with his stay here. You can tell that she's like that with all of her patients not just because she was his nurse before. Susan has a kind heart and makes you feel comfortable in a bad situation (no one likes being in the hospital).
With everything going on in the world today nurses are overworked and underpaid for everything they are doing to ensure the comfort and safety of their patients. People are quick to complain about someone but not to compliment someone on a job well done. I truly hope Susan is recognized for being an outstanding nurse especially with everything going on. I know it's her job to be a nurse but Susan is an example of an amazing nurse. She always has a smile on her face and such a kind heart. Thank you just isn't enough to say to her for everything she had done for my son and my family. CUH is lucky to have Susan as a nurse she does an amazing job for the hospital. I appreciate all of the nurses for everything they do for their patients. I will always come back to CUH because the nurses are great! Thank you Susan from the bottom of our hearts.
