When Sean talked to me, I felt he really listened to what was going on in my head and helped me with a "plan".
Sometimes you just need someone to listen to you and really "hear" what you're saying. I was hospitalized on a 72 hr. hold in the Behavioral Unit with suicidal thoughts and a plan. I also suffer from many health issues including chronic pain. I got myself off all narcotic pain medicine and now only use medical marijuana.
Sean, RN, tried to advocate on my behalf and spoke with the Chief Medical Officer, who looked into, but informed me that there are no doctors in the hospital that can legally prescribe this and it was very upsetting that my gummies were right there, and I couldn't have them. In my current state of mind, feeling suicidal and now agitated (highly). Sean sat me down and had a long conversation with me. He helped me calm down and offered advice on ways to cope with what I had going on and dealing with intense pain at the same time. When he talked to me, I felt he really listened to what was going on in my head and helped me with a "plan".
I don't want his sympathy and compassion to go unrecognized. I feel he went above and beyond his duty as a nurse to truly help me. He is an example of what a nurse should be. I believe he is dedicated and committed to his position as a nurse for the patients, without personal gain as a goal. It takes someone special to deal with and help those who feel hopeless and helpless and suicidal. I can't thank him enough. Kudos to Sean!
