Lia has a kind heart and generous nature. I remember once one of our nursing staff had tried many times to place a nasogastric tube on a gentleman who desperately needed it. The man had such high anxiety that he had told the staff to please stop. Lia came in the room and not only calmed the man's anxiety but was able to place the NG tube easily before he even knew what had happened.
Another example of her caring nature is when one of her patients had been begging to please go outside because they had been in the hospital for a long time. Lia finished up what she was working on and took the patient outside to get some fresh air.
Lia is also a good advocate for her patients. She has addressed special situations like advocating for a terminal cancer patient whose pain medication was discontinued. She was very professional and respectful when taking care of this situation and the patient was very appreciative.
Lia is always calm when talking to her patients about their medication, care plan, or test results. Lia also has come to visit one of her patients on her day off because the patient asked her to come and stay with her.
She has been an amazing preceptor for new nurses and newly hired nurses. She has pitched in to help with staffing when needed and has also pitched in with fundraisers and hospital events. Lia goes above and beyond in all aspects of her job and her life.
