Tina is the most compassionate caregiver and healer I know.
Tina Reed is a phenomenal person and nurse. She has served in many roles in her 20 years at St. Joseph's Health, and she is currently our Geriatric Specialist. Tina was recently helping with a very difficult patient in Unit 3-1, and she used all her kindness and compassion to help not only the patient but also the staff deal with his difficult behavior. She always demonstrates clinical skill and excellence when on the patient care units. She works hard to develop relationships with the patient and their family; as well as the staff caring for the patient.
I have seen Tina deal with our geriatric population who are confused or lonely. She is the most compassionate caregiver and healer I know. Taking the time to get to know the patient and what is important to them is her focus. She is thoughtful and caring in all situations. She uses her knowledge and expertise to assist the patient, their family, and the staff to cope with some very difficult circumstances.
During the height of the pandemic in 2020, Tina was a guiding light to the (then) COVID unit (Unit 2-5), which had a number of COVID-19 nursing home patients who could not have visitors and were having a hard time with hospitalization. It is an honor to nominate Tina for this DAISY Award: She is one of the most deserving nurses I know.
