Most recently I spent 9 days as an in-patient in multiple rooms. During my stay, I found the hospital staff very professional and accommodating. There was a nurse that stood out from all the rest. Her name is Kate Jones. What was especially different was her demeanor for the patient over completing tasks. Kate entered the room mindful of the patient even though she needed to complete a task, she always made it secondary to attending to the patient's needs.
Kate always projected herself as sincerely caring. She always ended her stay by asking if there was anything she could do to make me more comfortable. Kate was truly my "Lone Ranger" in a mask!!

We were introduced to Kate on day 1 of my husband's stay at Rex. We did not know what to expect upon our arrival and soon had no doubt that we had done the right thing by bringing him here.
Kate was professional, knowledgeable and so accommodating. Our stress level was immediately reduced. She consistently asked if we needed anything and she followed up with us to see if our requests had been met. Kate treated my husband with respect and did all she could to make sure he was comfortable, even though he was not responsive. She went above and beyond her duties when she learned it was my birthday. She brought tears to my eyes when she handed me a piece of cake and a plate of cookies for the family to celebrate my day. Whenever we had questions about the end of life journey my husband was on, her responses were kind and comforting. She offered and brought me the booklet "Gone From My Sight" to further answer my questions.
Rex is most fortunate to have Kate Jones as a member of the Comfort Care Unit. I hope Rex recognizes and appreciates the asset you have in Kate. The patients and their loved ones she serves most certainly do.
