During a pandemic, my mother was admitted to the Forbes Telemetry unit. Her staff on the unit was amazing and took excellent care of her. Shannon was my mother's nurse one day. Shannon showed so much compassion and empathy for my mother's concerns and anxiety for her surgical procedures. Shannon called and informed me of all the updates throughout the day with medication changes, updates as to when she left for procedures and was back. Shannon even advocated for my mother when medication changes for diuretics did not work for my mother from her previous experience. My mother has CHF and cardiomyopathy and can be a complicated patient. Shannon went above and beyond not only for the care my mother received but Shannon also advocated for my mother. Shannon went above and beyond by keeping me informed of all things according to her care. As a nurse myself, I understand the qualities patients and families value in nurses and Shannon has all the qualities to not only provide the best care for her patients but also excel as a nurse. Thank you Shannon for making a difference in my mother's hospital stay. I became a nurse to make a difference in someone's life but Shannon made a difference in mine and my mom's!
