Danielle has shown true leadership skills in taking on a completely new assignment and new role during COVID. Every day that she comes to work she exhibits phenomenal interpersonal communication skills from her interactions with patients and families to her advocacy of the nurses she works with. The mission and values of CHCO are exemplified in her ability to provide compassionate care to each family situation that she encounters as well as maintain an approach that ensures family-centered care. As lead screener, Danielle has had to take on family situations that don't always fit the perfect picture. She has shown time and again the ability to coordinate care with the appropriate leadership and ensure that each family feels the value they hold at CHCO. She has helped coordinate Creative Play appointments for siblings of patients so that a parent and the patient can attend their visit without having to reschedule. She often coordinates with the nursing supervisor to work on family exceptions so that the family can be supported in the best but safest way possible during COVID. She goes above and beyond to make sure that her team in the visitor screening is working cohesively and feels supported. I often see her stepping up to take over a screener's role so that they can go to lunch or so she can de-escalate a family. Danielle's extraordinary care that she provides to patients and families at the front entrance could easily go unnoticed but I truly believe her leadership and compassion have made a difference on every single visitor or patient she has encountered at Children's Hospital Colorado. She has definitely made an impact on my career and this little bit of recognition cannot adequately suffice my gratitude to her. Staff members, visitors, patients, and families can truly walk away from any encounter with Danielle knowing that here, it truly is different.

Danielle has exemplified strong leadership qualities and characteristics in her role as visitor flow, visitor screening supervisor. During my time working with Danielle, I have witnessed her strength and honorable character, as she has fiercely advocated for the patient, family, and staff safety. When Danielle sees a need, she stops at nothing to ensure the best is provided to those around her. Roadblocks and challenges have been plentiful, yet throughout it all, Danielle maintains determination and strength. She uses her voice to advocate for evidence-based practices, settling for nothing less. In doing so, she makes a difference for our staff and for our community. Danielle has been brave in the face of this current global pandemic and the numerous variables that accompany our ever-changing world.
