Lori was able to remain calm and reassuring as she supported him on the toilet, gave directions to the nurses who came to help, and looked out for his comfort and safety.
My son is in the hospital for GI issues. An enema was ordered and Lori took the time to explain the procedure before starting. She told him not to be embarrassed by any part of the procedure or if he had an accident. We called on Lori once things began to pass because my son was in so much pain and he was bearing down so hard that he began to lose feeling in his extremities and became very light-headed. His abdominal pain increased from an 8/10 to a 10/10; because he has POTS there was a good chance he could pass out. Lori was able to remain calm and reassuring as she supported him on the toilet, gave directions to the nurses who came to help, looked out for his comfort and safety as they got him back into bed, called his doctors to advocate for more pain medication and kept us informed of what was happening. It should be noted that my son is 15 years old, close to 200 pounds, and 6'6" tall.
Lori's care and concern for my son did not end there. She continued to check in on him and advocate for him as a nurse/charge nurse throughout the weekend. Her care and concern was evident and stood out from all of the others during my son's week-long stay.
