I have been a patient at TGH since 2001 off and on. TGH receives praises from me for being the best hospital in Tampa so on this day in August, I was not in a good place mentally and as I sat here in my own self-pity, in walked Lauren. She was not my nurse but filling in for someone else. In her own compassionate way, she on the sly read some Psalms (Psalms 36). Then we got into a conversation about my family. I don't know how it ended with me telling her about my 4 brothers, who all had muscular dystrophy and have all passed away, and even my child with the disease passed away at 11 years old.
Lauren shared how strange that was as her nephew was also diagnosed with the same thing. She had something that I never had which was a moving photo of what it looked like but when I saw her nephew, it brought back so many memories, and by the time the talk was over, she was shedding tears and asking me to pray for her nephew. I added him to our prayer list as my sister is a Minister.
I thank God for her and will continue to pray for her.
Note: This is Lauren's 2nd DAISY Award!
