Today a patient of mine was refusing her important, life-saving medication. The ethics committee was even consulted on how to give the patient her meds since she had been deemed not to have the capacity to choose. Paige helped to advocate for this patient by encouraging her to take her medication orally, which is the safest and least invasive route. Paige sat down with this patient and was respectful and caring. Because of Paige, the patient received the medication that she needed to help her get better. Paige showed accountability and competency because even though this was not a patient of hers, she offered to help, having the patient's well being as a priority. Without Paige's intervention, this patient probably would have been transferred to a higher level of care. Paige is an amazing, World-Class nurse.
