The baby had foster parents lined up already but Ana did not make the mother feel left out. Ana taught the biological mother how to care for her baby with special needs and involved her with her baby's cares.
Ana De La Cruz shows compassion, integrity, excellence, teamwork, and wholeness every time she works. She cares for her patients as if they were her own. Ana doesn't only demonstrate compassion for her patients but also for parents in the NICU. On one occasion we had a mother who was not taking her baby home due to a CPS hold. The baby had foster parents lined up already but Ana did not make the mother feel left out. Ana taught the biological mother how to care for her baby with special needs and involved her with her baby's cares. Every day the mother was very thankful because not all of the nurses did this for her.
Ana also demonstrates teamwork because she always goes out of her way to help all of her roommates and to make the day easier for everyone. One time one of Ana's roommates had a 3 list and the nurse was very busy with a very fussy baby. Ana noticed that this nurse was busy and offered to feed and hold the baby. Ana held the baby until the baby fell asleep.
Also when someone needs any supplies Ana always goes out of her way to go get them for the nurses in her room and she does it with so much love. Ana is always there for her roommates not only for work-related stress but also during hard times that her coworkers might be going through. She always knows what to say or she just listens and lets her coworkers express themselves. Ana also always provides safe care and always wants what is best for her babies and she will speak up and be an advocate for her babies.
