From the moment I met her, Mel exuded an empathetic aura that only a true servant leader has.
What can I say about Imelda (or as I know her, Mel) to demonstrate her unswerving compassion, kindness, and immeasurable empathy? I first met Mel over a year ago when I started seeing the doctor for my chronic pain. From the moment I met her, Mel exuded an empathetic aura that only a true servant leader has. She has continually demonstrated a vast knowledge base and the ability to multitask in a complex work environment. Mel's ability to critically think has enabled her to guide me to the answers to my questions; and if she doesn't know an answer, she always finds out and gets back to me. I have called to speak with her on days where she is in procedures with the doctor, and he still always calls me back. Recently, I've been having trouble with my insurance paying for my pain meds. Mel has been an integral part of getting this settled. Last week she not only called the insurance company to check if prior authorization was needed, but she also called the pharmacy to check that the prescription was paid for, and then she called me to let me know it was all set. In the past year, Mel has consistently gone above and beyond for me. Being an RN, I am picky about my care; but I am extraordinarily glad to have her as a part of my team. She has earned my respect as a patient and colleague, and I am profoundly proud to nominate such a prestigious RN for a well-deserved award!
