Susan Barnard was my nurse on admission to the Cardiac Catheterization department and cared for me post-procedure. She demonstrated a unique ability to provide professional and compassionate care without giving the impression that she was following a protocol. The result was an immediate calming effect for both me and my wife. Susan made sure that we both were well-informed every step of the way except when we were handed off to the nurse who would support me through the procedure.
At no time did Susan given an impression of being rushed. It was as if we were the most important function of her day. We are both retired nurses and know better. It is a rare practitioner of care that can make a complex task look easy. Susan is a master at it - and we were both amazed and grateful.
