Sarah is extremely kind and compassionate. She helped me with my many tearful concerns and patiently answered each and every single question that I had. After I was done, she still asked me if I had more questions. I did have a final question....is she going to be with me during my surgery? She said she does not go inside the OR room, but she wishes that she could.
Even before my surgery was scheduled, Sarah called me to check in with me and see if I had any questions from the binder (I hadn't finished reading the surgery section). After my surgery got scheduled, Sarah once again answered every question I had. It did not matter if I had already asked the same questions in our previous conversations. Her patience and compassion helped me feel as comfortable as I can be before a lumpectomy. But wait, there's more.
On the day of my surgery, Sarah went to work early just to see me. She visited me while I was waiting for my wire tracing procedure. Because of COVID, my husband was not with me, so I was alone everywhere. It was good to see a familiar face and, of course, I cried. Seeing Sarah touched my heart...I felt supported and not alone. She listened to me as we waited for the doctor.
In the end, I told her that I wanted to hug her as I "air hugged" her. She "air hugged" me back. And, about an hour or so later, I needed to be wheeled from the wire tracing procedure room to the MRI room.... guess who came to wheel me there? Yes, Sarah. I was not even Sarah's patient that day. She did not have to do any of this. She most certainly did not have to go to work early just to see me.
But Sarah did. And, for this (and I am so sure for the many other amazing things she does for other patients) she is a true DAISY Nurse for being the beautiful, amazing person she is.
