As I was brought to my room I was discouraged because I was back in the hospital. This was my fourth hospitalization in the last 3 years. At shift change, my nurse, Lisa, came in and we both said, "I know you!"
Imagine my delight when I recognized Lisa from taking care of me during my last visit. Not only did it brighten my spirits, as I stayed in my room, but we also worked together on a plan to feel better. I was reluctant to take too much pain reliever. As a nurse myself, I recognize the importance of adequate pain relief on a regular basis but wanted to take the minimum amount. I thought I wanted to get off the pain meds asap. Lisa helped me to understand that the sequel of my operation is pain and we've got to take it in order to improve. She spoke with my surgeon who respected her input and one pain med order was adjusted.
Lisa is professional, organized, knowledgeable, and thoughtful. As a nurse, she advocated for me, put a plan in place, used the whiteboard so I was informed, and we laughed a lot.
Lisa is a wonderful asset to Multicare.
