It is not important for you to remember who I am, it is important for me to tell you how grateful I am for your skills, care, and compassion during my stay.
This note of gratitude is long overdue however it is something I still want to do. With so many patients who have been under your care, I know it is almost impossible for you to remember anyone specific. It is not important for you to remember who I am, it is important for me to tell you how grateful I am for your skills, care, and compassion during my stay at Queen's Orthopedic Floor last spring.
When I returned back to your floor for the second time, it was your warm and compassionate welcome that made this second stay especially tolerable. I remember so clearly begging you to call the vascular surgeon, for permission to walk to the bathroom but you patiently kept talking to me telling me why I needed to remain in bed. I know for sure I complained terribly. My apologies.
Your skills as a nurse are unquestionable but your humanistic instincts far exceed any medical-care person I have ever encountered.
My family and I are forever grateful and I will never forget you, Mark. My very best wishes to you.
Note: This is Mark's 2nd DAISY Award!
