I had my 1st baby here at GBMC. My stay was nothing short of amazing. The day before discharge, Dottie was my nurse for the night. I thank God she was scheduled to work with me. While other nurses were also good, they were nothing like her. She explained every little thing to me, she didn't just give me supplies and tell me to use them. She helped me to have a better understanding of my treatment plan. For example, after delivery, I had to ask my nurse for an abdominal binder. She brought it to me, but never explained how to use it. I was also never told when to stop using ice for the swelling from my delivery. It wasn't until Dottie came that I got all the answers to the things I didn't know that I didn't know! She explained everything!!! All the while I wearing "my binder" wrong because of course, I thought it was a waist trainer and nobody corrected it after constantly coming in checking, and pushing down on my stomach! She also told me that I was done with the ice packs- that they were only for 24 hours after delivery, and that I was supposed to move to sitz bath because the warmth heals. WOW! I was so impressed and happy she told me that. It made so much sense. There is nothing like being informed and being talked through a process. Thank you, Dottie! You are amazing and I can tell your passion for nursing is real. We need more nurses like you!!

We are the mother and father of S, and would really appreciate it if you give special recognition to Dottie. Dottie has gone above and beyond for us as I am sure she does for all of her patients every night she works. Our only regret is that we did not have her every night, 24/7 during our stay. Her wealth of knowledge is vast and her bedside manner is beyond what words can express. Dottie picked us up when low and gave us a wonderful education that put us at ease. Dottie made S's mother as comfortable as possible. It has been a real pleasure having her. Dottie is a valuable asset to GBMC PP and works hard. In closing, I myself am a healthcare professional and come in contact with many many RNs and I have never experienced a more deserving RN as Dottie. Dottie is a true DAISY Nurse.
