Tanisha does not just leave it to her team to care for the most difficult, she is right there by their side, helping to facilitate safe plans for the patients and staff.
Tanisha is currently the nurse manager of one of our medical units at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. Tanisha exudes positivity and always has a can-do attitude. What makes Tanisha special is that she fosters this positivity and can-do attitude among her unit as well. This department is a challenging unit but Tanisha expects and gets excellence from her team. How does she do it? She does this by being the team's coach, cheerleader, and biggest supporter. She always encourages and recognizes her team. When the unit went through a name change from Medical Unit West to Medical A, she embraced this name change by calling her team the "A-Team". This team now has a logo and a brand and a reputation of being the "A-Team." In addition to always cheering on her team, she goes above and beyond with her patients. The patients on Medical A are often the most vulnerable patients we can serve. They often have an acute medical problem and a mental health component. Many patients on this unit are violent, on physician holds, or suffering from a behavioral health crisis. Tanisha does not just leave it to her team to care for the most difficult, she is right there by their side, helping to facilitate safe plans for the patients and staff. She participates in care conferences, ensure safe plans within the hospital stay and at discharge. She advocates for patients, families, and staff. In addition, Tanisha brings joy, excellence, and positivity to our entire hospital. Many staff, not just in nursing know who she is and can always count on her to dance her way through any situation.
