Stacy supported me when I cried. She answered all our questions. She loved on M. She truly cared. Stacy helped us get through the hardest time of our lives and we can never thank her enough.
The first week of my baby's NICU stay was a complete blur. The only thing I could remember vividly was Stacy and her kindness. My daughter M was born on a Tuesday and was going in for surgery on Friday. She was scheduled for 8 am. Being a nurse myself, I knew how busy the time before her surgery was going to be. I had planned on getting to the hospital at 6 am to make sure I got enough time to do skin to skin with M and not get in the way of change of shift report. Unfortunately, I was late and arrived right in time for report. I was so nervous asking Stacy to do skin to skin because I knew it was a huge inconvenience, but as a mom, I felt that M needed it before she went in. Stacy said yes without hesitation and she helped me take M out to hold. Stacy became our primary and throughout our stay, she was a rock for us. She shared with me that her son had been a preemie and I was so thankful for knowing that. Not knowing anyone who had gone through what we did was scary and being able to ask Stacy for advice was a true blessing. Also having someone taking care of my baby who knew how it felt to be in my shoes was a true comfort for me. During our time my husband and I came to the NICU every day. We spent 8-12 hours a day at M's bedside. We were so burnt out one day but because Stacy was M's nurse, we went home to take a glorious 3-hour nap. We fully trusted her with our life, M. Stacy supported me when I cried. She answered all our questions. She loved on M. She truly cared. Stacy helped us get through the hardest time of our lives and we can never thank her enough. She showed everyone around her the same kindness she showed us, and for that reason, I believe she is a true DAISY Nurse.
