When they came to take me, John was at lunch, but as soon as I got to the procedure room, he was there with a big smile and said, "I told you I'd be with you."
John showed caring and compassion that exceeded expectations. I was immediately taken back and given several tests. During the time my husband and I were waiting for results, John came on shift. He greeted us immediately and checked on us several times.
While checking on us one of the times, I asked where a vending machine was, as my husband is diabetic and needed something to eat. John immediately provided a box lunch for him and made sure he was ok, too.
While my tests, blood work, etc. were coming back normal, the doctor wanted one more test, a vascular CT. The doctor explained the procedure. Not too sure of it, John explained it again to us and told me he would be with me, as I was nervous about it.
When they came to take me, John was at lunch, but as soon as I got to the procedure room, he was there with a big smile and said, "I told you I'd be with you." I was immediately relaxed, and the test went fine. Visits to the ER are never pleasant and sometimes scary. But John was a great source of kindness and comfort.
Thank you, John. My family feels very lucky John was my nurse that day.
