Patsy's nursing career is marked by compassionate care, empathy, friendships, and leadership.
Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital recognizes Patsy Ferrell, as having 41+ years of hospital loyalty. For those that don't know, Patsy wasn't always a nurse. She began her career at Wyandotte Hospital as a housekeeper. After working in EVS, she transitioned to a transporter position while attending nursing school. After graduating from nursing school, Patsy took a position in the Emergency Department. That was in 1980; forty years ago.
Patsy's nursing career is marked by compassionate care, empathy, friendships, and leadership. She is approachable, understanding, and a team player. She is a mentor to many she works with and the matriarch of the department. During COVID, Patsy worked through one of the most difficult times the ED has ever faced. Rather than complaining or being fearful for her own health, she faithfully led our team as a charge nurse through the pandemic.
Patsy has devoted her life's work to Wyandotte ED. She is loved and invaluable to us. When someone thinks of Wyandotte ED, we think of Patsy. The Emergency Department along with Wyandotte Hospital are extremely honored to recognize Patsy with The DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award.
