Aimee knew they were going through a hard time so sometimes she would just sit with her in quiet and somehow that's exactly what she needed.
I consistently receive patient recognition for the impressive nursing care that Aimee provides. Some comments from patients include: "Aimee is extremely nice and deserves a pat on the back", "Aimee is an amazing nurse and provides wonderful care." "Aimee is amazing." "Aimee sticks out as the most personable and professional nurses I've ever had." I had a wife of a patient call and tell me that she was so impressed by Aimee. It was a really difficult time for them with everything going on with her husband, but Aimee took the time to sit with them and went the extra mile to make sure she was comfortable. Aimee knew they were going through a hard time so sometimes she would just sit with her in quiet and somehow that's exactly what she needed. Not only does Aimee go above and beyond at the bedside but she also works hard to continue to professionally develop herself. She recently presented her project at the Seattle Nursing Research Conference this year.
Aimee is such a team player. She goes out of her way to help staff whether asking for help or not. At times I see her just going from nurse to nurse or call light to call light to be of help. She is one of the primary preceptors for new hires and students on the unit. She is often requested by word of mouth from previous students or employees.
I have seen her numerous times ask the CNA what tasks you have to do in our shared patient room because I am going in with mediations and I could take care of the task for us. She does this consistently especially with "challenging" patients and those in isolation (COVID).
She steps up for leadership by being in a relief charge nurse role often. It does create more stress on her but thankfully she still will step up to help the unit.
