Tabitha followed standard care in this situation such as doing pictures, footprints, a memory box, and allowing them as much time as needed with their infant but opened her heart to them also.
Tabitha has a heart for patient care and a beautiful compassionate spirit. She has gone above and beyond for patients and her co-workers for her entire career. Recently, she took care of a patient and her husband who experienced a fetal demise. She addressed the physical needs but also their deep emotional needs. She followed standard care in this situation such as doing pictures, footprints, a memory box, and allowing them as much time as needed with their infant but opened her heart to them also. She touched this couple's hearts and they included a special thank you to her in their baby's obituary. While putting together the resources that we provide for coping and care in these situations, Tabitha discovered that we did not have a list of local support groups that focus on the loss of an infant or child. She has put together a resource list and reached out to Case Management for any additional information that they might have. Tabitha is proactive and looking for what will help our patients. Her recognition of gaps in resources will help other couples in the future.
