Shelby's compassion and professionalism do not go unnoticed as she communicates with providers and families to update them and reassure them of the patients' status.
Shelby has been a leading force when delivering excellent care to our COVID-19 patients. She volunteered from the very beginning to take care of these patients. She continues to maintain a positive attitude, no matter how taxing it is to care for these patients. When we dedicated our ICU as the COVID Unit, she came to care for these patients. She has gone above and beyond her nursing duty to care for and meet the needs of these patients. No matter how many times the patient requested her to come to the bedside, she went with a positive and caring attitude even though each time meant she would have to don and doff her PPE yet another time. Her compassion and professionalism do not go unnoticed as she communicates with providers and families to update them and reassure them of the patients' status. She gave reassurance to the patient and their families with her clear and precise communication earning her their respect and gratitude. She even initiated the suggestion of proning patients to providers. She created a feeling of comfort to patients as she had a watchful eye over their symptoms and condition. Patients were set at ease and could focus on their recovery knowing Shelby Gayle, RN is providing them excellent care.
