David Stockstill was nominated for the extraordinary care he delivered to a patient in the ICU with a terminal condition. This patient was aware of his diagnosis and was scared; scared of being alone, of his disease, and of dying. This patient called out to the staff every few minutes with different needs all day and night. David exhibited skill and patience while caring for this man. As soon as David stepped out of the room, the patient was calling for another request. David remained empathetic and compassionate throughout the shift, never becoming impatient or rushing with the young man. She was touched by his extraordinary level of competency and skill, his infinite patience and kindness. She stated if she is ever sick, she hopes David is her nurse.
