Barb went above and beyond to make this child feel confident and comfortable before leaving clinic and never rushed him or his parent.
Barb was caring for an 11-year-old boy who had a fractured tibia and fibula who required splint application and crutch teaching. The boy had OCD and anxiety and a lot of questions regarding this process. He needed to talk through multiple scenarios of how he would navigate on the crutches and get around his home and school. Barb was so patient with him and talked through all of the scenarios with him which took a long time on a busy clinic night. He was very concerned about the 4 steps he had at home and couldn't visualize how he was going to get up and down. Barb took him to the stairwell at the clinic and they practiced going up and down 4 steps to imitate his home environment. Barb went above and beyond to make this child feel confident and comfortable before leaving clinic and never rushed him or his parent. I am proud to have her as part of our team and so thankful for the amazing care she provides to our patients and families.
