The delivery of our daughter was incredibly smooth and quick - even peaceful (especially once I got an epidural!) and Erica was a huge part of that. She kept us comfortable and in the know throughout the whole experience.
Erica was our nurse in the delivery room and during recovery for the arrival of our daughter. She's a veteran nurse and it shows in the best possible way. I recognized her as a nurse who helped during the delivery of our first child in 2017 - she noted she may well have been there as she's been working at HUP for 18+ years! She communicated with me in a calm and clear way about everything that was going on during the delivery of our daughter and what to expect with each step. She even thought of things that I didn't - like asking if we'd like [a photo right after our daughter arrived] and when we said yes, snapping a quick photo of my husband and me with our daughter which is a moment and image we'll always cherish and have a visual of thanks to her. The delivery of our daughter was incredibly smooth and quick - even peaceful (especially once I got an epidural!) and Erica was a huge part of that. She kept us comfortable and in the know throughout the whole experience.
Erica helped us settle into our room in recovery. I realized how much, in particular, I appreciated Erica when she returned for a shift later on (after a few other nurses) and was also our nurse in recovery - I found myself genuinely happy and excited that she would be back with us and helping through recovery. Everything was smooth and seamless thanks to her - our daughter had to do a short stint in the NICU and Erica helped me pump and get my colostrum from delivery to recovery, she helped us feel settled, and she looked out for me and my husband. She was positive and upbeat in a balanced way, we never felt like we were burdening her with questions or requests, she was incredibly efficient and an effective communicator across the doctors and other nurses - I felt well looked after and trusted that things wouldn't slip through the cracks.
I'm very grateful to Erica for taking such good care of me and our daughter and heartened to know that so many other moms, babies, and families at HUP have benefited from her care through her many years of service. She almost feels like a big sister - it's a blessing to have had her support and care during this pivotal life experience.
