Kristan checked on me several more times when I was no longer under her charge to see how I was doing and to offer encouraging words.
I was in the ICU in November with COVID hypoxia and related pneumonia. Kristan was the nurse assigned to be on my second and third days in the ICU. As I was still "new" to the ICU, I was not yet familiar with the hospitals and ICU's procedures and processes and I was in a pretty miserable state at that time. I was getting no sleep and was starting to have mild hallucinations from lack of rest. I was on 15L of oxygen and my veins had already collapsed causing problems with blood draws and IVs.
Kristan started her care for me and was able to tell from my appearance that I wasn't doing well. She was responsible for recommending and setting up a PICC line insertion to make my IVs and blood draws more comfortable and for recommending the use of BIPAP to get my breathing and oxygen transfer more established and under control. Kristan was able to anticipate my needs when I wasn't able to articulate or even knew what they were, and I am convinced without her care that my time in ICU might have taken a turn for the worse. I consider Kristan my guardian angel during this most difficult part of my ICU stay.
Additionally, later as I was improving Kristan checked on me several more times when I was no longer under her charge to see how I was doing and to offer encouraging words. I believe Kristan is an important reason for my positive recovery and she should be considered a sharp and valued member of your nursing staff... Words cannot express my appreciation for your care.
