Claire decided to take on the challenge of becoming a SANE (sexual assault nurse examiner). She not only completed her certification in a very timely manner, but she also went above and beyond and helped organize the entire unit into a user-friendly system. She continued to do research on her own, attended meetings, and reviewed other hospital policies to make our SANE program as successful as can be. She treats patients with compassion and patience. She is on call at all hours to come into the unit to take care of patients who have been sexually assaulted to give expert care. She is an advisor for the unit and has been available on call for questions.
She also follows up on the cases that come through the unit and makes sure it was done correctly. She has orchestrated hands-on lessons available for all staff and has given hands-on demonstrations for the department's digital forensic camera. Sexual assault has become a very important task in the unit with new laws requiring very specific criteria. Claire has brought our department to levels higher than required and continues to improve and educate. Please take time to congratulate her on these most important tasks and recognize her for a job well done!
