Courtney is more than an excellent nurse, she is for me "my guardian angel" that helped me to be back today.
Courtney was my nurse most of the time I was in ICU suffering from COVID-19. She was not only a nurse that came to do her work, obviously, her clinical skills are outstanding, but she is a much better human being giving herself to others, not looking at the clock. At some point, I gave up and felt that I was going to die. She held my hand and with great compassion, lifted me up.
"You are not here to die, we will get you through this, you can't lose faith." From that point forward her compassion and dedication as a human being were limitless. She extended herself to my family as a caregiver and liaison between me, lying isolated in the ICU bed, and my family providing words of great comfort and support to them. Courtney is more than an excellent nurse, she is for me "my guardian angel" that helped me to be back today. The ICU team at MU Hospital is outstanding but she is unforgettable to us and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
