Tanya
Kelleher
,
RN
Care in The Community
Durham VA Health Care System
Tanya's efforts were pleasing and impressive with the spirit she exuded during the entire process as she kept her actions updated.
This nomination is to share the pleasure of landing at the desk of this amazing, customer/Veteran-focused and exceptional DVAHS Team Member.
A call was received at or about 3:27 pm on the eve of the new year, on behalf of a Veteran. According to the VSO, the Veteran was very emotional and upset, because he was due to have a procedure at DUMC for which he believed he had prior approval. He learned that the procedure had not been authorized.
This call, came into me, in the midst of county budget preparations, moving Tanya to drop what she was during to render assistance. The request was concerning, especially involving the reasons for his medical appointment. Recognition was given to it being the 13th hour and the likelihood of reaching someone that could provide a resolution was going to be challenging, if not impossible. However, the challenge had to be given a concerted effort. Efforts landed at the desk of this amazing VA Team member, who did everything you would want a team member to do and more.
This was the third transfer and time was of the essence with 4 pm quickly approaching. Tanya took her time to listen, opened up an opportunity that gave the very best outcome that could have been achieved by anyone. She spent some 51 minutes, on the phone while working very feverishly with other members of your VA team to provide a resolution for this Veteran. All the moving parts are not known, but what is known is that her works and her energies were exceptional. Her efforts were pleasing and impressive with the spirit she exuded during the entire process as she kept her actions updated. She provided a clear demonstration that she prescribed to the VA's mission and it is truly an honor that our paths crossed.
Finally, please know. This DVAHS Team Member strongly discouraged any personal recognition. Saying, "I am just doing my job." While this is true. I believe each of us knows when you are provided an element of service that exceeds expectations and performs beyond the "Call of Duty"...as she did, and she did it exceedingly well.
So, please extend to Tanya Kelleher, RN, DVAHS, my sincere appreciation on behalf of the Veteran and the NCACVSO organization and for her stellar performance for the work she did in pursuit of a resolution on behalf of this nation's Veteran.
A Job Well Done!
