Sophia was very helpful, very professional, and made me feel at ease.
I met Sophia when I checked in. She made me feel welcome and provided information for my stay at PIMC. I asked if she was Navajo, she acknowledged that she was. I asked what her Navajo clan was, and she provided that. In the Navajo culture, people greet each other by clan, in this case, I found that Sophia is my "daughter" by clan. This creates an immediate bond to another, so I called her my "shi-tsii". This is very comforting to know that you have a member of your tribe as a caretaker rather than a complete stranger you put your trust in. Sophia was very helpful, very professional, and made me feel at ease. Since my immediate family members could not enter the hospital because of COVID-19, I entrusted my "daughter" to care for me in my time of need. Therefore, I nominate my daughter for the DAISY Award.
