When my daughter was taken after being removed from me, it was the most comforting feeling knowing the hardest working nurse was with her.
My pregnancy had been nothing but hard from day one. I had struggled with gallbladder pain and feeling helpless and miserable. The first time we had Stacy Fisher, I was 36 weeks pregnant and she took the time to listen and get me the help I needed that day. Fast forward to me being admitted for my induction. I was nothing but thrilled to see a familiar face. She took care of me through the whole process of inducing me. She checked my pain, answered the same questions over and over without ever losing patience, and most of all, she made me feel calm and safe for this new scary experience. I remember finally being able to get my epidural and how scared I was. My boyfriend couldn't handle seeing needles, so Stacy stayed and never left my side. She never made my boyfriend feel like any less of a person for not being able to stand by my side.
Fast forward to my end labor and things did not go as planned. I was taken to an emergency C-section right at shift change. She never hesitated or debated not staying with me, even though it was time to go and see her family. She stayed calm and collected in an OR full of so many new faces. When my daughter was taken after being removed from me, it was the most comforting feeling knowing the hardest working nurse was with her. As things began to escalate, she kept my boyfriend comforted while never missing a beat taking care of my daughter.
When it was time for her to finally leave for the day, she came to me in the other room where I was melting down and chose to calm me down first. There are a lot of amazing nurses who made our stay easier, BUT Stacy was always at 110%, never missing a beat. She comforted me and my family in the scariest time of our life! She never looked at the clock to see when her shift was over. I find it impossible to truly put into words how greatly she affected our family.
