I kept my eyes closed, but I could hear Amanda's melodic voice and feel her kind touch on my arm and forehead.
I have been a physician for 25 years but never a patient. This was a new and honestly frightening experience being on the table rather than standing next to it. The staff at PMC from the front door greeter/COVID tester to the kind CNA's that wheeled me out to my car were absolutely phenomenal! I could not have asked for a better experience.
As every person I talked to and all involved with my care were beyond good, it is very difficult to pick one that really stands out. My wife agreed with me when I told her I wanted to give my post-op recovery nurse the highest kudos possible. I never saw what Amanda looked like, but I felt her kind touch and soft words of encouragement. She stood by my bedside the whole time I was in post-op as my spinal wore off quickly and I was in a lot of pain. I kept my eyes closed, but I could hear her melodic voice and feel her kind touch on my arm and forehead. She dosed pain meds, followed my O2 sats, and never left my side. I could not be more appreciative and thankful for her. My eyes water thinking about her, and I do hope to meet her face-to-face someday and give her a hug! People like her put love and kindness in medicine.
