I am a faculty member that has watched Kristel's leadership and progression both in and outside of the classroom.  Kristel has been my student off and on during her graduate studies at ASU for her doctoral of nursing practice degree. Anyone who encounters Kristel knows she is an exceptional nurse and an outstanding student. She excels in her studies, cares about her fellows students, and wants to advance her profession. She has served as the President of the Graduate Nurse Organization and is active in her professional nursing association. However, in this last semester of this program, I was able to learn how truly compassionate and caring Kristel is and will continue to be as she becomes an advanced practice registered nurse. When my husband suffered a serious medical illness and Kristel learned of our diagnosis, she went above and beyond to reach out to us and connect us to providers in her clinical practice arena that could help give expertise. Kristel worked behind the scenes to coordinate a second opinion for my husband so that all options could be provided to us. Kristel demonstrated above and beyond kindness, coupled with her skills and knowledge, which I know will make her an extraordinary advanced practice nurse. I am grateful for her kindness and compassion during a difficult time and I know she will be a blessing for the comfort of many future patients.
