Jessica was in clinical training taking care of a medical patient. Jessica had completed rounding on this patient with the physician and returned to the room to perform a nursing assessment. The patient was unable to speak or move his extremities on the left side, something he was able to do just 10 minutes prior. Jessica notified the nurse she was working with and the rapid response team was called.  Due to this quick response from Jessica, the patient was able to be taken promptly for testing, assessed by a neurologist and diagnosed for a stroke. The patient was transferred to the neurology unit to receive more focused care and had the best outcome possible due to the attentiveness and hard work of Jessica. The clinical instructor was impressed by Jessica 's clinical skill, who is a first-year nursing student.  The instructor looks forward to watching her grow and evolve during her clinical hours and has no doubt that she will make an excellent RN in the future.
