During her clinical rotations Caitlyn was always prepared for her clinical experiences. She demonstrated competent knowledge of the client's status and excelled in identifying early clinical warning signs that allowed staff to assist in rescuing the client from failure. She is a team player and demonstrated excellent leadership skills to her peers as well as the nurses, providers, and clients.
During one of her clinical experiences, she was able to identify a client who was progressively declining in mental status and was able to use her communication and collaboration skills to have the client further evaluated. She acted quickly when the oxygen saturation was undetectable and was persistent in notifying the primary nurse and instructor of her concerns. The primary provider was notified, and labs were drawn and processed. The client 's status continued to deteriorate and they were transferred to the ICU with a diagnosis of sepsis. Due to the quick action of this student and her utilization of critical thinking skills, she rescued this client. The client received prompt treatment and was able to be discharged from the facility at a later date.
I highly recommend this student and look forward to her becoming a part of the nursing profession.
